Dr. Luis Mediero is a professor in Hydraulic Engineering at the ‘ETSI de Caminos, Canales y Puertos’ of ‘Universidad Politécnica de Madrid’. He belongs to the UPM research group on ‘Hydroinformatics and water management’. His main research lines are on statistical hydrology, non-stationarity time series, rainfall-runoff modelling, climate change, dam safety, reservoir management and water resources. Currently, he has 36 papers published and indexed in Web of Science, with 580 cites and an h index equal to 15. In addition, he has around 100 presentations at international and national conferences.

2001-2003: Civil Engineer at INOCSA consulting. Hydrology and hydraulic studies in projects of linear infrastructures, such as high-speed railroads and motorways. Revision of dam safety emergency plans.

2003-2006: Researcher as a PhD student at the Department of Civil Engineering: Hydraulic and Energy of Technical University of Madrid. Doctoral thesis on flood forecasting: ‘A probabilistic flood forecast applying a Bayesian network model to the results of a spatially distributed rain-runoff model’.

2006-2009: Civil Engineer at the Centre of Hydrographic Studies of CEDEX. Flood frequency studies for developing practitioner recommendations regarding regionalisation of river discharges and methodologies for hydrological dam safety and design at national scale in Spain.

2009: Researcher at the Hydraulics Laboratory of the School of Civil Engineers of Technical University of Madrid. Physical models for design of dam spillways.

2009-nowadays: Lecturer at the Department of Civil Engineering: Hydraulic, Energy and Environment of Technical University of Madrid.
